By FL1 train: step by step
After baggage claim, follow the "Trains" signs: the station is linked to the terminals by a covered walkway.
Buy a ticket to Rome at the ticket machines, the Trenitalia ticket office or the Trenitalia app. The regional ticket from the airport costs €8.
If your ticket is on paper, validate it in the machines on the platform before boarding: without validation you risk a fine on board. Tickets bought online are already valid.
Board the FL1 regional train towards Orte or Fara Sabina, not the Leonardo Express. Get off at Roma Trastevere.
During the day there's a train about every 15 minutes, every 30 minutes in the evening and on Sundays. The last train from the airport usually leaves around 22:40: check that day's times on trenitalia.com.
Why not the Leonardo Express
The Leonardo Express is the most advertised train at the airport, but it only goes to Roma Termini, on the opposite side of the city from Trastevere and Monteverde. It costs from €14, and from Termini you'd need another ride back west.
If you're staying in Trastevere or Monteverde, the FL1 is cheaper, more direct and drops you a few minutes from the door.
By taxi from Fiumicino
Rome's official white taxis wait outside arrivals. The €55 flat fare only applies to destinations inside the Aurelian Walls, such as central Trastevere.
Monteverde and the area around Roma Trastevere station are outside the Aurelian Walls: to our apartment the taxi runs on the meter. Ask the driver for an estimate before you set off.
Only take taxis from the official rank, never from people approaching you inside the terminal offering a ride.
Private transfer on request
If you land late in the evening, with children or with lots of luggage, the most comfortable option is a private transfer with a driver. The driver waits at arrivals even if your flight is delayed.
We arrange it for our guests on request: send us your flight number and we'll send you all the details. For groups of up to 6 we book a car with room for the luggage too.
If you land at Ciampino
There's no direct train from Ciampino. The budget options are the shuttle buses to Roma Termini, about 40 minutes, or the Airlink, a bus to Ciampino station followed by a train to Termini.
From Termini you'd need another ride to Monteverde, so from Ciampino a taxi or a private transfer is often the simplest choice, especially for groups. At Ciampino too, the taxi flat fare only applies inside the Aurelian Walls.
Arriving at the apartment
Check-in is self-service with a key box and remote opening of the main door, or we'll welcome you in person if you prefer.
Send us your expected arrival time: we'll send you the instructions and the walking route from Roma Trastevere station.
